Zoophobia: Reader X Jack: Lucky Charm

You had just enrolled in the Zoo Phoenix Academy and were walking down the halls when you noticed a sad, canine-like creature sitting down on a nearby bench. He had brown fur and was covered in scars and bruises. He had a large, bloody gash across his arm which he was applying a bandage to.

Instantly, you dashed up to him with a look of concern on your face, "OH MY GOD! What happened to you? Do you need the school nurse? Maybe even an ambulance? I'm gonna call the medic!"

"Nonononononono!" The canine shook his head frantically, "I'm fine.....I'm fine.....it's just an everyday occurrence for me. Don't be so alarmed, stuff like this happens to me all the time. It just comes natural when you live with a curse."

"A curse?" You replied in confusion.

The jackal nodded, "Yeah, it's a real long story and I'd rather not go into great detail about it since there's only about 5 minutes until class but basically, I'm immortal and cursed with eternal bad luck. So in other words, I'm mother nature's punching bag. By the way, my name's Jack."

You shook the creature's paw, "Jack is a lovely name. I'm Y/N."

Jack smiled at you, "Y/N is a great name, too."

"Do you have any friends to help you out with this curse of yours?" You asked, placing a hand on Jack's shoulder.

"I have a few close friends but most of the students avoid me because my curse scares them off." Jack replied, "Despite all the physical pain I get put through, it's the emotional kind of pain that hurts the worst. Getting blown up and decapitated is nothing compared to some of the names I've been called."

Jack hung his head with a sniffle, a hot tear rolling down his snout and leaving a salty trail from the corner of his left eye to the tip of his nose. The tear stung the cuts on his muzzle on the way down, causing him to whimper.

You watched as the tear glimmered on the tip of Jack's nose like a liquid diamond before leaning forward and tenderly kissing it away. You savored Jack's tear on your tongue like salty, bittersweet wine before pulling away.

"Y/N?" Jack flinched, a blush spreading across his face as he felt you kiss his tear away. It was very unusual for someone to approach him in such an intimate manner, especially since his bad luck ran haywire and caused all sorts of chaos for the poor pup.

You draped your arm across the scarred pup and smiled as you gazed deep into his eyes, "I'll be more than happy to be your good luck charm, Jack."

Jack smiled as you, warm tears of joy forming under his eyelids, "Thank you....." He choked out softly. And with that, the cursed jackal leaned forward and pulled you into a close hug.

"You're so sweet, Y/N." Jack sobbed, a few tears of joy streaming down his muzzle and dripping off his nose onto your shirt as he rested his head on your shoulder. You stroked his fur a few times, massaging his back and scratched him behind his ears a little before the bell rang. The scarred pup released the hug and wiped his eyes and snout clean of his salty tears, "I'm sure you'll become a close friend, too."

Jack nuzzled your cheek with his cold, wet nose and hopped off the bench to walk towards his classes. You sat there with a deep blush on your face. For someone covered in so many scars and injuries, you couldn't deny that Jack was extremely handsome and sweet. You softly swooned to yourself as you picked up your bags and headed off to your class.
